With time, use and the occasional drop on the floor, your Square Ruler might become misaligned. Fixing this is quite easy. If you look at the base of the Square Ruler, you’ll notice there’s two hex screws. These can be loosened to adjust the angle of the Square Ruler. There are two methods that can be used:
Method 1: Squaring your Square Ruler with Another Tool
The first is having another tool that you’re confident being 90-degrees. Use this to check the perpendicularity of your Square Ruler. If they don’t line up, loosen the base screws on the Square Ruler and adjust the ruler angle until the ruler edge is parallel to the control edge. Keeping the ruler and base steady, tighten the hex screws.
Step 1
Loosen the Square Ruler with a hex wrench
Step 2
Align the ruler with your square tool to set it at 90 degrees.
Step 3
Tighten the hex screws on the Square Ruler
Method 2: Squaring your Square Ruler with no tools
The second method works without a 90-degree control edge to check the angle. Find a straight piece of wood with an edge, something you can slide the base of the Square Ruler along. It’s important that the whole base is touching. In place, draw a line with the ruler. Next, flip the Square Ruler over and starting from the same spot, draw another line. If the lines aren’t identical, then the Square Ruler isn’t Square. Use a 3mm wrench to adjust the angle of the ruler ever so slightly, then at another spot, make the two lines again. Draw, then flip and draw again. When the two lines overlap, precisely, the Square Ruler is Square again.

To check if the ruler is square or not, in place, draw a line with the ruler. Then flip the Square Ruler over and starting from the same spot, draw another line. If the lines aren’t identical, then the Square Ruler isn’t Square.
Step 3
Slightly adjust the ruler with the 3mm wrench, then draw the lines in another place until the two lines overlap
